About Us

Sifu Marc Webster - ( Masters of Acupuncture ), Shiatsu Therapist, Master of Tong Long Kung Fu
Owner and founder of the A.-T.E.A.M. Clinic

After 7 years in the hospitality industry, I came to the realisation that working hard for up to 16 hours a day on my feet, not enough sleep, irregular eating habits, alcohol and drug abuse, was not conducive to my good health. Along with the fact that I was bored giving all of my time to my work, I looked for something outside of hospitality to expand my horizons. In 1993 I began training in Japanese massage and Chinese martial arts. After several lessons of both I realised I had found my passion. The theories and practice of the medicine and the martial arts had many overlapping areas. I was amazed at the applications they had to both ancient and modern day lifestyles. I continued my studies in medicine at acupuncture college. Now 15 years later I am still studying and constantly trying to improve my skills in both fields. Thankfully, I have not cooked commercially since mid 2000, and I don't intend to do so again.

I have specialised in the treatment of injury and trauma rehabilitation, back pain, women's health and pregnancy, as well as paediatric acupuncture and moxa therapy.

In 1999 I achieved first place in the Gold Coast's Queensland Training Awards for my acupuncture studies, and was runner- up in the Queensland state finals.

I am currently a Second Degree Red Belt in 9th Degree Grandmaster Henry Sue's Southern Tong Long Kung Fu system and an instructor of Yang style Tai Chi. I am the Sifu at the Mudgeeraba branch of the Chinese Kung Fu Academy.

Since February 2000 I have lectured at Massage Schools of Queensland, teaching Shiatsu and Oriental Therapies. I have also taught acupuncture to Degree level for 5 years at the Academy of Natural Therapies, at the Gold Coast Institute of TAFE.
In 2002 I studied with the Toyo Hari Association. This style of acupuncture was developed by blind practitioners, so is a very highly refined tactile form of medicine. Also 2002 saw me complete a Postgraduate Certificate in Chinese Herbal medicine through Cathay Herbal Laboratories.

In 2006 I graduated from the University of Western Sydney with my Masters of Traditional Chinese Medicine, majoring in Acupuncture.

I continue to follow my passion through my own Clinic, further studies in the fields of medicine and martial arts, and teaching both Oriental Medicine and martial arts. You can read more about my views on these throughout this website.

Anthony Lee ( Adv. Dip. App. Sc. - Acupuncture )

My Name is Anthony Lee and I am an Acupuncturist and Massage therapist. I  specialise in Meridian Therapy, or Japanese Acupuncture. I graduated from the Academy of Natural Therapies in 1998 with an  Advanced  Diploma  of  Applied  Science  in  Acupuncture. I have been practicing now for ten years. I have worked in multi-modality clinics with many excellent practitioners in many different fields while constantly observing techniques and forms of therapy that have added to my knowledge base. I have been doing massage since graduating and utilise many varied forms that can be combined and used in conjunction with acupuncture to enhance results and the treatment experience. In  2007 an opportunity arose to undertake some work at the A.-T.E.A.M.  Clinic and I jumped at the chance to work with such a committed, professional and highly skilled group of practitioners.
I am constantly studying and am very interested in all aspects of natural therapies. I  am particularly interested in modalities or instruments that have been of benefit to my own health. This allows me to speak and offer advice from experience. I have been using an Ion-Detox machine for a year now. I have seen  some amazing results  for myself and my clients. It works on detoxifying the body by introducing more negative ions for uptake into your system via a bath of water you put your feet into.
I have also recently become a practitioner in ‘Step forward Orthotics’. I was experiencing regular bouts of back pain. Acupuncture and massage treatment would help, but the pain and discomfort kept re-occurring. It was by chance I had a print of my feet taken and it was instantly evident to the practitioner that my re occurring back pain was in fact due to my feet. 2 weeks after wearing the orthotics, my back pain had gone!! I was able to undertake activities I had  been avoiding. As a practitioner, I felt it my duty to study and eventually become a distributor of this product. The product works by stabilising the foot and putting our body back on the Plantar facia. This is the body’s shock absorber, which in turn allows for re-aligns of the knees, hips and shoulders. They will take pressure off the heels and balls of the feet, and this is where many problems can arise from.
My goals are to continually increase my knowledge in all aspects of the health industry to benefit my clients and treatment results. I am undertaking a Masters of Acupuncture through the University of Western Sydney and intend to complete this course by the end of 2009.

Darrin Elford ( Naturopath, Herbalist, Personal Trainer )

In order to enhance the service offerings of the A.-T.E.A.M clinic, naturopathic and nutritional medicine consultations are now being offered.

My name is Darrin Elford, a fully qualified and professionally accredited natural medicine clinician with sound experience in handling complex health issues. Complex disease states and health conditions are an area that I find very rewarding and stimulating, especially when health improvements are observed. Specialising in health assessments, chronic disease management, lifestyle conditions and preventive medicine initiatives, I am able to cater to your specific health needs.

Before entering this new field of employment, I spent 15 years in the computer industry – a high energy, high profile and high stress occupation driven by constant tight, and often unrealistic, deadlines. Under this constant unhealthy lifestyle, my health deteriorated. It was then that I realised there had to be more to life than work and money.

A change of attitude towards balancing all aspects of my life brought an abundance of happiness, health, energy and joy for the simple things in life. Slowing down to experience life and “smell the roses”, coupled with a positive attitude gave much more joy to my life than ever before. A gentle peace enveloped my life and the recipe for a happy life was discovered. I took time to have a social life with friends – my priorities in life changed dramatically for the better.

At the same time, I pursued several self development goals, interests and ambitions to reach for higher levels in my personal and professional life. I developed an interest in the arts, drama, theatre, musicals and opera by blending the analytical and creative aspects of my intellect, with life reaching new spiritual and energetic dimensions.

My health responded positively to this new and exciting lifestyle, but more improvements were needed. A drive and passion for improving the health of others and my own at the same time gradually filled my heart and gave me a rewarding new direction for my life.

The birth of a new journey and life purpose was born – a passion to improve the lives of others and myself through better health the natural way. I discovered that, for my own health issues, the prescription drugs method of treatment was flawed and I experienced many unpleasant side effects. I turned to natural medicine and the health improvements were profoundly significant, all without the side effects of other drugs.

With empathy, understanding and compassion, I am able to use my knowledge and experience to help others discover the true meaning of life and live a life filled with happiness, health, peace, love and joy.
