Campaign to Develop a Health Sanctuary

In 1993 I began my journey into East Asian Medicine and Martial Arts. Over the last 17 years I have trained and studied with various Masters of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, as well as Masters and Grandmasters of martial arts. In this time I have opened my own natural therapies clinic, and established my own school of Kung Fu, Tai Chi, and Qigong. I have also spent time teaching at 3 colleges on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, in the fields of Acupuncture, Shiatsu, and Oriental Therapies. In this time I have seen the power these arts at work on the health and well being of many types of people from all age groups.

I am joined in this vocation by my fiance Toni Best, who also has a passion for natural medicine and uses it not only for her clients but for animals like horses and dogs too. Toni is also a keen practitioner of martial arts and a teacher of Tai Chi in my Kung Fu academy.

It is with an understanding that natural therapies and exercise arts have the ability to heal many ailments, strengthen our body and mind, and prolong our life that we have a vision to build a sanctuary for learning, practice, healing, relaxation, teaching, and growth not only for this generation but the many that are yet to come. We have also explored many other aspects of health and positive changes for a better life.

The Health Sanctuary property will be devoted to various methods of achieving health, longevity, protection of the self and the environment, responsibility for yourself, and for your environment. This property will be built using “Cradle to Cradle” philosophies and technologies, as well as utilizing these same principles in as many of our offered modalities as possible. These will include classical Traditional East Asian medicine, internal and external martial arts, herbal medicine, paediatrics, permaculture, alternative veterinary medicine, colour and crystal therapies, dietary and cooking education, meditation,
qigong,yoga, electrical therapies, environmental health (including feng shui, recycling, etc). As we grow we are interested in exploring solar power and related green energy systems, renewable resources, alternative energy sources as they are discovered, financial education and the continual introduction of new therapies to our programs.

This health sanctuary will differ from existing health retreats, spas, and resorts in the fact that it can be attended at anytime, by anyone. From the individual who wants to utilize natural medicines or to discover how they can make changes in their lifestyle or home for a greener future, to large groups or corporations who want to take part in specialized programs for their needs. The health sanctuary will be a venue for fee paying clientele, as well as offering reduced fee and free education seminars and classes for the public, community, and disadvantaged groups. On a simpler level it will be a beautiful and peaceful place to come and spend time in the Australian native and Oriental gardens and surrounds for families and other specialized groups, such as schools or aged care.

The outcomes for users of the property and its facilities are an advance, or “evolution” for a healthier, greener future in their lives on any level they choose to seek it.
