Our team
Sifu Marc Webster
(Masters of Acupuncture), Shiatsu Therapist, Master of Tong Long Kung Fu
Owner and founder of the A.-T.E.A.M. Clinic

After 7 years in the hospitality industry, I came to the realisation that working hard for up to 16 hours a day on my feet, not enough sleep, irregular eating habits, alcohol and drug abuse, was not conducive to my good health. Along with the fact that I was bored giving all of my time to my work, I looked for something outside of hospitality to expand my horizons. In 1993 I began training in Japanese massage and Chinese martial arts. After several lessons of both I realised I had found my passion. The theories and practice of the medicine and the martial arts had many overlapping areas. I was amazed at the applications they had to both ancient and modern day lifestyles. I continued my studies in medicine at acupuncture college. Now 15 years later I am still studying and constantly trying to improve my skills in both fields. Thankfully, I have not cooked commercially since mid 2000, and I don’t intend to do so again.
I have specialised in the treatment of injury and trauma rehabilitation, back pain, women’s health and pregnancy, as well as paediatric acupuncture and moxa therapy.
In 1999 I achieved first place in the Gold Coast’s Queensland Training Awards for my acupuncture studies, and was runner- up in the Queensland state finals.
I am currently a Second Degree Red Belt in 9th Degree Grandmaster Henry Sue’s Southern Tong Long Kung Fu system and an instructor of Yang style Tai Chi. I am the Sifu at the Mudgeeraba branch of the Chinese Kung Fu Academy.
Since February 2000 I have lectured at Massage Schools of Queensland, teaching Shiatsu and Oriental Therapies. I have also taught acupuncture to Degree level for 5 years at the Academy of Natural Therapies, at the Gold Coast Institute of TAFE.
In 2002 I studied with the Toyo Hari Association. This style of acupuncture was developed by blind practitioners, so is a very highly refined tactile form of medicine. Also 2002 saw me complete a Postgraduate Certificate in Chinese Herbal medicine through Cathay Herbal Laboratories.
In 2006 I graduated from the University of Western Sydney with my Masters of Traditional Chinese Medicine, majoring in Acupuncture.
I continue to follow my passion through my own Clinic, further studies in the fields of medicine and martial arts, and teaching both Oriental Medicine and martial arts. You can read more about my views on these throughout this website and at www.mckfa.com.au.

Dean Monk
(Practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) & Esoteric Acupuncture)
My Journey into Chinese Culture started when the NZ Army posted me to Singapore in 1980; here I began my lifelong passion and study of three Gems – Qigong, Chinese Medicine & Kung Fu. This all began at the Nam Wah Pai Institute of Art of Self Defence with Master Sim Poh Kok. After more than five years in the Army, I decided to pursue TCM formally. In 1986, I embarked on a four year course of study with Professor Wong Lun, at the Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Melbourne). I graduated end of 1990, with a Diploma of TCM.
Then at the Academy of Natural Therapies (Gold Coast) I qualified in both Swedish Massage & Zen Shiatsu (1991 & 1994). From 1995 – 2004, I studied Qigong With Master Jirong Zhang at the China Institute International (Brisbane). In 1996, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Majoring in Health Science) at Griffith University (Gold Coast). Since 1997, I have been the Acupuncturist/TCM Practitioner & Lecturer at The Golden Door Health Retreat (Gold Coast)
In 2000, I qualified as a Zen Bodytherapy Practitioner with Zentherapy International (USA). In 2000, I completed the Postgraduate Nicotine Addiction and Smoking Training Course at the University of Sydney. In 2006, I graduated with a Master of Traditional Chinese Medicine Degree at University of Western Sydney.
From 2008 – 2009, I studied Tiandi Qigong with Master Zhao Shihua (Sydney). Since 2009, I have been teaching Anmo-Tuina & Cupping at Massage Schools of Queensland. Since 2010, I have been studying Esoteric Acupuncture with Dr Mikio Sankey (USA) at the Shiatsu College Australia (Melbourne)
In 2010, I moved my private practice to the A.T.E.A.M. in Mudgeeraba. In 2010, I trained Qigong with Grandmaster Anthony Wee of Chi Dynamics International at The Golden Door Health Retreat – Elysia (Hunter Valley)
My practice today combines the five modalities of Professor Wong’s TCM (Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Massage, Food Therapy and Exercise Therapy), with Qigong Breathing Therapy, Dub Leigh’s Zen Bodytherapy and Dr Mikio Sankey’s Esoteric Acupuncture. This together with my experience working at The Golden Door Health Retreat for nearly a decade and a half has given me a unique insight into Wellbeing. This has led to the development of what I call Lifestyle Therapy.
I specialise in stress and stress related conditions and how they affect posture, breathing, digestion, sleep, anxiety and vitality; musculoskeletal problems and nicotine addiction.
I am also a Senior Instructor and Dai Sihing of the Mudgeeraba branch of the Chinese Kung Fu Academy.
Rebecca Hazelton
Hello All,
My family and I have lived on the Gold Coast for almost 10 years and love life here.
Having worked as a Massage Therapist at Robina Natural Therapies for twelve months, I formalised my training at Massage Schools of Queensland in May 2010.
I joined the A-T.E.A.M. in August last year and very much enjoy being part of the clinic, a group of health care professionals committed to natural health treatments and the highest level of care.
It is extremely rewarding to help others and see the immediate improvement that a treatment provides.
“Health is your greatest wealth” and I can help you achieve that with beautiful bodywork like Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Deep Tissue, and Swedish massage. You must ‘service’ your body with time out for relaxation with some manual manipulation to allow all parts to work smoothly and synergistically.
Looking forward to seeing you at the A.-T.E.A.M. Clinic in 2011.
